Learning Objectives

At the end of this module, learners should be able to:

  1. Define and describe key components of information management, information technology (IT), health information technology (HIT), and nursing informatics.
  2. Describe various ways in which HIT has evolved to improve the quality of healthcare and  enhance patient safety.
  3. Compare and contrast electronic medical record (EMR) with electronic health record (EHR).
  4. Identify opportunities for integrating informatics into nursing leadership roles.
