In this section, learners are specifically encouraged to think about the ethical principle of respect for patient autonomy, and what that means in practice vis-à-vis obtaining informed consent. Additionally, learners will explore the fundamental components of the informed consent process, and the legislative requirements applied when a patient is not capable of making their own medical decisions.
