5.1.1 Overview

One of the basic needs regarding health is to maintain good hygiene, which assists in keeping the skin in good condition and therefore assists in maintaining good health. This chapter will introduce the importance of personal hygiene and grooming for client’s mental and physical health, as well as their social relationships. By understanding why personal care is so important, and the main elements of personal hygiene and grooming, the care provider is well-positioned to offer effective assistance to clients.
