4.5.5 Conclusion

In this chapter you have learned to:

  1. Recognize risks in the client environment that increase the potential for falls and injuries.
  2. Identify ways to assist the client in preventing or reducing falls.

We have now completed lessons on safe mobility practices ranging from ambulation, to using good body mechanics, safe practices for assisting in movement and in transferring from surface-to-surface, and, finally,  how to conduct a fall risk assessment and prevent fall injuries. You should feel confident about how best to move your own body to prevent injury, and how to safely shift, lift and transfer your clients.
