1.4.6 Infection Control Signage

Infection Prevention signs encourage sanitary practices to reduce the risk of infection, per the latest infection control best practices. Various signs are made commercially as well as by government organizations. This chapter will provide examples that are made available for free use through Public Health Ontario.

As a general rule, all precaution signs for infection control must include:

• Information for visitors to contact staff
• The type of precautions for that client
• The type of PPE to be worn
• The door: open or closed
• The transportation requirements for staff and client PPE
