16 Accessible Lists in PowerPoint

Lists are a great way of visually portraying that information is related to a larger concept or idea. In order for everyone to benefit from this visual interpretation, they must be created using the bulleted or numbered lists tool (Home – Paragraph). If created manually, individuals using assistive technology will not be told it is a list when they encounter a the content within a PowerPoint document.

  • Lists should not be created using unformatted symbols. Symbols can be changed in the Bullets and Numbering menu.
  • Using this feature will also remove the need to manually renumber large lists if changes are made to the document.
  • If the list order does not matter, use the bulleted list function. If the order is important, use the numbered list function.
