Creating the performance script: the ‘how’ of it

Okay. Now that we’ve gone over some of the reasons we create TSDC performance scripts the way we do, let’s get down to the ‘how’ of it.

In the following sections we’ll look at:

  • Things we pay attention to during the workshops
  • Identifying core cultural stories
  • Choosing a physical setting for the story of the play
  • Developing the action of the scenes
  • Defining and developing characters
  • Working with offstage characters
  • Creating a story arc
  • What TSDC scripts look like and how we work with them
  • Shifting from workshopping to rehearsing
