44 Solder your own Circuits
Solderless breadboards are easy and fast while you are testing ideas and building a first prototype, but their failings become apparent and annoying very quickly. Jumper wire connections pull out easily. The fairly high and variable resistances of the pin-in-breadboard connections are a problem in sensitive analog circuits like bridges. Switch up to something better sooner, rather than later for best results.
Soldered Prototyping Boards
Your circuits will provide much better connections with lower resistances if you solder them up on a printed circuit board (PCB). You can start easily by using prototyping boards like this shield for the UNO, or various wings for the Feather with your components and hookup wire to make permanent connections. Permaproto boards make the transition for a solderless breadboard to a first prototype easy by maintaining the same geometry. Once you are ready, you can create your own designs with the connections built right into the board for production and high reliability.
PCB Design and Layout Software
http://fritzing.org/home/ provides an application for drawing user friendly schematics and layout drawings for soldered printed circuits or jumpers and breadboards. It is widely used in the maker community and provides the basis for many illustrations in this book.
Eagle
Download and install Eagle for free and follow the tutorials at Autodesk, Sparkfun or Adafruit
I installed the application in the default Applications directory, but have been putting libraries and script files in my Documents/eagle directory so they should be available even if I am using a different computer. (The Documents directory is replicated across all my machines through iCloud.)
KiCad
Try open source KiCad that enjoys corporate support from both Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
PCB Fabrication Options
https://pcbshopper.com/ allows you to review multiple options for fabrication and assembly.
