Learning Objectives

By the end of this chapter, you will be able to:

  1. Define hand hygiene.
  2. Identify and explain when you would perform an alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) versus washing hands with soap and water. 
  3. Apply the techniques of ABHR and wash your hands with soap and water.
