Study Exercises and Answers to Select Exercises
Readers are strongly encouraged to download and print the following exercise set accompanying the textbook:
- FoBM-Exercises.pdf
- Print-friendly version (double-page): FoBM-Exercises(doublepage) (Set the printer options to: Print on both sides, Landscape, Flip on short edge)
You may consult answers to select exercises on the MathMatize platform: Fundamentals of Business Math Exercises – Select Answers.
You may have to purchase access to the MathMatize platform. The pricing of the access is completely in the domain of the platform owner and is fully independent of this textbook. The textbook authors and contributors do not receive any compensation from the MathMatize platform as a result of the fee associated with the access to the exercise solutions.
Important: The ability to check your answers is provided only for select exercises. Specifically, the exercises on MathMatize are the same as in the textbook exercise set published in the PDF document above. Each exercise on MathMatize starts with the reference to the textbook exercise number. In addition, each exercise section on MathMatize is divided into three groups:
- Problems numbered 1, 4, 7, etc. (i.e., remainder is 1 in division by 3) have answers available – they will show if correct answer is entered or after three incorrect answers
- Problems numbered 2, 5, 8, etc. (i.e., remainder is 2 in division by 3) have only the correct answer confirmation available – they will show if correct answer is entered but will not show the correct answer, regardless of how many incorrect inputs are made
- Problems numbered 3, 6, 9, etc. (i.e., divisible by 3) only have answer entry fields available but will not verify the correctness of the answer provided
Why not answers to all exercises? The first set, with answers provided, is for your first stage of learning, when you are still very much a novice at the content. As you gain greater knowledge and skill, the second set allows you to check if your answer is correct but, if it is not, it is up to you to check your work and to determine where the error(s) might be. The last set is there to ultimately prepare you for the exams and the workplace, where the external verifiers will almost never be present and you’ll have to have both the knowledge and the confidence that your argument and the consequent conclusion are correct.
