Position Description for OER Assistants
This contract position runs for a semester for fourteen weeks. Hours of work are Monday through Friday and will be scheduled around classes. This is a remote/work-from-home position with occasional tasks on campus. These OER will be published with a Creative Commons license and be free for students. In this role, you will assist subject matter experts (Faculty SMEs) in creating, review, and adjust digital text material using Pressbooks and H5P technologies. There may be times when you will be asked to assist with other OER projects and OER-related duties. Communication with SMEs and other collaboration team members will primarily take place using MS Teams.

Expectations

  • Incumbents will complete asynchronous training within the first two weeks of the position.
  • Incumbents will meet with the OER Consultant once a week to review tasks and progress and receive weekly assignments.
  • Incumbents will be expected to work directly with the OER team, faculty authors, subject matter experts (SMEs), and other college staff. This means:
    • communication in a polite and professional manner.
    • meeting virtually over Microsoft Teams (ensuring proper Conestoga credentials are used to access said systems).
    • emails are sent and received using Conestoga email.
    • using the Outlook calendar for scheduling meetings.
    • accessing the staff OneNote for meeting agendas, minutes, procedures, and more.

Tracking/Submitting Time

  • Incumbents will work with the OER Consultant to track hours worked and submit according to her expectations.
  • Incumbents will submit hours worked through the Conestoga Employee portal.
  • If time off is required, incumbents will submit a request to the OER Consultant with as much notice as possible.
  • If absent or sick, incumbents will connect with the OER Consultant at their earliest convenience.
