Getting Started with Pressbooks

What is Pressbooks?

Pressbooks is an online publishing platform built on WordPress to help authors create professional-looking webbooks without coding or formatting knowledge. eCampusOntario has partnered with Pressbooks to grant access to member institutions to facilitate OER creation and sharing.

The platform has many features that allow users to create interactive teaching tools. Using the Hypothesis plugin, you can embed video, add interactive content like H5P interactives, and even allow students to annotate and interact with the text. Pressbooks is a “write once-publish many” platform. This means you can create multiple file formats, from PDFs to eBooks, by exporting your book. Clone other Pressbooks, import from another document, or start writing from scratch to get started.
