Workplace and Research Communication Modules

These Workplace Communication Skills modules support learners in building the practical skills necessary to communicate effectively in work integrated learning (WIL) situations.  Content and activities help learners to select appropriate research strategies and prepare effective business communications, including writing emails, memos, and presentations.

NelpA note about accessibility: these are web-based interactive modules that contain audio and video.  The modules incorporate a variety of  accessibility features compatible with assistive technology, including full transcripts and synchronized closed captioning of all audio content.

B 1.1 Professional Communication

This module includes content and activities that will support participants in communicating professionally in the workplace. Participants will explore how they can most effectively demonstrate and maintain professionalism in their verbal, non-verbal, and written exchanges.

B 1.2 Writing Emails and Memos

This module includes content and activities that will help participants develop a comprehensive resume and references page that effectively highlights their academic and professional experiences and is tailored to their chosen field.

B 1.3 Research Skills

This module includes content and activities that will support participants in selecting and applying appropriate research skills for a given workplace or WIL task.

B 2.4 Giving Effective Presentations

This module includes content and activities that will support participants in delivering presentations that are engaging, visually appealing, and effectively communicate key data, plans and ideas.
