Chapter 8 – Role of Communication
8.8. Chapter Summary
Communication Planning is about keeping everyone in the loop on the project. Communication can be in the form of written or verbal. Human Resources can support the project team through training in communication skills. There are various types of communication including team communication, synchronous communication, and asynchronous communication.
Requests for Proposals (RFP) is a written form of communication to request approval for a project. Human Resources may be responsible for designing the RFP, reviewing the RFP, and helping the organization decide on the best proposals to approve.
Communication Plans are important to who does what and when and how often! Virtual teams are popular today and require some different sets of skills through video conferences, text messages and email. Trust building is essential for virtual teams as they are not physically working in the same space. Project Managers need to ensure clear communication when working with virtual teams.
