18 Importing Audio Files
We are going to import the audacity-intro.mp3 into Audacity. There are multiple methods of importing audio files into Audacity:
- Select: File -> Import -> Audio
- Or press Ctrl+Shift+i
- Or you can drag and drop the file on the Audacity Project Window
Some files you have recorded may not be importable. Use VLC player to convert those files to MP3, as shown in the previous section, or install the FFmpeg Library. After you have imported audio files into Audacity it should look like this. You can clearly see your audio file in stereo waveforms.
If your interface doesn’t look exactly like this, that might be because of the fluid design shifts the toolbars around.
The Transport Toolbar functions from left to right: Grabber (used to move the toolbar to a custom location), Pause, Stop, Skip to Start, Skip to End, Record, Loop Click the green Play button on the Transport Toolbar to listen to the track we have imported.
