Within this book, you will learn the necessary skills to create professional live streaming events, podcasts, and video content. Each section will provide a guide to understanding each of these open source technologies and methods of using them. While this book has a focus on digital communication and learning objects, there is no single way to create any of these media types. This book will provide you with techniques and features that are useful in the development of both digital communication and the development of learning objects.

This book provides foundational techniques for using each of these tools and a final section on methods of collaborating with others while using these tools. These tools can be applied in numerous ways and are very dynamic and continually changing, because they are open source projects. If any of the material within this book becomes dated, please contact the authors.

The intention of this book is to help you become comfortable using media technology. Each of these tools has foundational functionality that can be found in proprietary software. When you have completed the exercises within this book, you will find the use of other media editing tools less intimidating, because you will be well versed in the language of each media type.

As previously stated there is no single way to use creative technology like digital media software and the power of these tools is associated with your own creative prowess.
