The Learning Support Centre

Introduction

The Learning support Centre is here to help you succeed! Started your program late? Need some math help? Looking for tips on how to study for your tests? You can receive all that and more at the LSC for FREE! In this chapter you will be introduced to all the tutoring services that you can access during your academic journey at Mohawk College.  Support is available for:

  • Course Tutoring
  • Math, Communications & Writing
  • Study Skills

You will receive support from successful upper semester students or faculty members; both with the same goal of helping you reach your full potential. Did you know, students who have utilized LSC services in their first year return in their second or third semester to become tutors themselves!

Course Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring is program specific support for your first year courses.  The goal of Peer Tutoring is to help you build your skills, gain confidence and retain foundational knowledge in your program.  Tutors are strong upper semester students who are currently enrolled in the same program and will be able to guide you from their own knowledge and experience.  Tutors can help with content review, practice questions, clarification of concepts and help you prep for tests.  We currently offer appointments virtually or in-person at all our campuses.  Appointments are 1:1 and are booked 2 days in advance.  You can access a total of 4 hours of peer tutoring a week.

Please visit the Peer Tutoring Website

*Please note, Peer Tutors are available for the majority programs at the college.  However, it is not guaranteed that each semester the LSC will be able to secure a Peer Tutor for every program.  Should you have any questions, if tutoring is available for your program, please reach out to lsc@mohawkcollege.ca .

Small group sessions (P.A.S.S) are also available for first semester math courses like MATH-10083 or MATH-10079.  Virtual or in-person sessions are available depending on your learning style.

Please visit the Math page for location and hours of availability.
