Day 1: Asynchronous Activities

Primer: Teaching Online

First, since we are using Microsoft Teams for the ISW, we figured you might want some pointers for how to teach using this platform. Teaching with Microsoft Teams is an OER created by co-op students in the Office of Open Learning at the University of Windsor and will help you explore various components of the platform…

When teaching, especially online, you want to be cognizant of the amount of time you are talking vs. the amount of time students are doing something. Our colleague, Dave Cormier did a Twitter poll to see what people thought… look at the results in this screenshot, but keep in mind that you only have 10 minutes for your mini-lesson, so you obviously wouldn’t be talking for more than 10 minutes anyway. We just wanted to provide some food for thought. It’s maybe even something you have already thought of after our first day together.
