Armend is a Kitchener-Waterloo based older adult who immigrated from Italy after his imprisonment on the Isle of Man during WWII. Upon his arrival, Armend worked in construction and later in technology; he now delights in his retirement, crafting things such as stained glass windows for local churches.

In his interview, Armend discusses living in various countries before arriving in Canada, his work life as a tiler in the construction industry and in electronics, and what keeps him busy during his retirement including his work in local churches. He then answers the question of whether he knew what he wanted from his life when he was a child by telling the story of his imprisonment on the Isle of Man and discussing his education and talents as a young man. He then provides the advice that he would give to his younger self, emphasizing the importance of education for young people.
