Dr. Jean Skillman is a retired family physician. After growing up on a farm near Aylmer, Ontario, Dr Skillman became one of just seven women in her graduating class at medical school. Near the end of her career, she was a pioneer in helping to provide home-based primary care to seniors in the community.

In her interview, Dr Skillman discusses her early life in a rural community, her education, the start of her medical career, her family, her work, and the most meaningful moments in her life. She also reflects on some of the changes taking place in medical practice during her lifetime, the challenges of serving as a busy family doctor, and her innovative work doing house calls as a family doctor for seniors. Finally, Dr Skillman offers her best piece of advice to today’s young people and students.
