Martha is a 73 year old retired nurse manager. She is the eldest of five children and was raised in Canada. She has several undergraduate degrees, plays the piano, sings, and also worked at a spinal cord and stroke injury unit as a nurse. She also speaks French, German, and Latin.

In her interview, Martha talks about being a woman in the 60s, public health, her experiences as a nurse, career, and shares her life learnings. She tells her life story beginning with some aspects of her childhood, and the important milestones of her life and the lessons she has learned from them. In her story, Martha emphasizes her connection to music and language, education and lifelong learning, her success in the sciences during a time when girls were often discouraged from studying science, and her career in nursing.
