OSAP Living and Learning Grant (LLG)

This grant provides financial aid for a maximum of four years to:

  • post-secondary students between the ages of 18-24
  • who left care in Ontario OR were a Crown ward adopted on or after August 1st, 2013.

The amount of the LLG is $116.28 per week for full-time studies, to a maximum of $6,000 per academic year. The LLG is paid only for the terms that a student is enrolled full-time in an OSAP-eligible program.

The LLG is disbursed as part of the electronic funds transfer process for Full-Time OSAP assistance.

Students may receive the LLG for a maximum of four academic years.

The LLG is a flat amount and has no impact on other OSAP loan or grant funding.

Students must submit a Verification of Status with Ontario’s Children’s Aid Society (CAS) form to apply.

The Living and Learning Grant provides support to youth who left the care of Ontario’s children’s aid societies and are engaged in post-secondary education and training.

The Ministry delivers the grant on behalf of the Child Welfare Secretariat, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSSS) through OSAP.
