About this Book
Changes From Adapted Resource
Overall significant work was done on this version of the text to improve the accessibility and format from the import from Open Stax and other resources.
All mathematical notation was written in LaTeX to allow for MathJax functionality. MathJax provides the following accessibility features:
- Automatic magnification on hover
- Text-to-speech options
- Collapsible math
- Highlight, foreground, and background customization
- The ability to translate math into other syntaxes
- MathJax options in over 20 languages
See the full extent of MathJax’s accessibility features in their documentation.
In addition the following formatting changes were made:
- The majority of images that included math where replaced with LaTeX
- Images were recolored for contrast
- Examples were reformatted into steps for ease of understanding
Specific content changes from the adapted resources can be found in the table below.
Unit 1 | All sections from Intermediate Algebra 2e Section 6. |
Unit 2 | All sections from Intermediate Algebra 2e Section 7. Removed section on ‘solve similar figure applications’ from section 7.5. |
Unit 3 | All sections from Intermediate Algebra 2e. Section 8. Removed section on ‘use radicals in functions’ from section 8.7. |
Unit 4 | All sections from Intermediate Algebra 2e.Section 9. Removed section on ‘solve quadratic inequalities’ from section 9.8. |
Unit 5 | All sections from Intermediate Algebra 2e. Section 10. Removed section on ‘finding composite and inverse functions’ from section 10.1 |
Unit 6 | Unit is a compilation of Introduction to Statistics in the Psychological Sciences and sections from Prealgebra 2e and Introductory Statistics Re-arranged content for consistency. All content reworded as it was from the perspective of pyschology students. Split the introduction chapter into an introoduction and new section 6.1 Added an example on creating a histogram, content on outliers, Added a z-score table. Changed the section on probility to align with teaching methods. Added the examples from “the standard normal distribution” and “the standardizing process” and the “un-standardizing process” section from 5.2” into 6.5 Probability and the Normal Distribution |
