In the summer of 2023, eCampusOntario’s Open Library team joined forces with subject matter experts from Ontario’s colleges and universities, including both English and French speakers. Together, they developed comprehensive, bilingual-by-design training materials on open educational resources (OER). This project was possible due to funding by the Government of Ontario.
The dedicated team, listed in the table below, aimed to provide educators with materials that would not only enhance their understanding and use of OER, but also empower them to contribute actively by creating and adapting these resources. To enrich the educational experience, interactive activities utilizing H5P and Padlet were incorporated.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Artha Learning for their exceptional contribution as instructional and graphic designers, and to Jolene Hurtubise, for her contribution on accessibility. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the Open Library and the eCampusOntario teams for their unwavering support.

About eCampusOntario
eCampusOntario is a provincially-funded non-profit organization that leads a consortium of the province’s publicly-funded colleges, universities and indigenous institutes to develop and test online learning tools to advance the use of education technology and digital learning environments. It serves as a centre of excellence in online and technology-enabled learning for all publicly funded colleges and universities in Ontario and has embarked on a bold mission to widen access to post-secondary education and training in Ontario. This textbook is part of eCampusOntario’s Open Library, which provides free learning resources in a wide range of subject areas. These open textbooks can be assigned by instructors for their classes and can be downloaded by learners to electronic devices or printed for a low cost by our printing partner, The University of Waterloo. These free and open educational resources are customizable to meet a wide range of learning needs, and we invite instructors to review and adopt the resources for use in their courses.
