Web book / Online version
The web book / online version of your OER is the one you’ve worked on throughout the process of creating / adapting your OER. Before you publish, ensure your book has the following checks completed and content tweaked. Once your web book is ready, proceed to the PDF book pre-publication list that follows.
OER Design Studio customization
- Malala theme is selected
- Acknowledgements page notes OER Design Studio Support
- All contributors are properly acknowledged
- Custom cover image uploaded, relevant attribution statements added to acknowledgements page
- Ancillary materials are added to back matter of book (eg: PPT files in easy to access links)
- Glossary page is turned on
- Standard CSS customization has been applied to the book – see our CSS customization documentation for full details
- Check that YouTube links are in the standard, shortened format – How to change these using Search & Replace is on the embedding video page
Troubleshooting
- Check for instances of <details open=”open”> and adjust to ensure summary/details tagging works properly – See H5P Troubleshooting
- Check for glossary terms that are not working correctly – remove <strong> tags from within the [*pb_glossary]term[/*pb_glossary] tagging.
- Check for broken links – See W3C Link Checker
Accessibility / AODA Compliance
- WAVE check confirms basic AODA compliance on each page of book
- List of potential and known deficiencies (that cannot be fixed) are noted on Accessibility page
Copyright Compliance
- Attribution and references statements added to each page of the book, updated as needed, links tested and CC license versions confirmed
