Accessibility Statement
As a publicly funded institution, York University is committed to ensuring the greatest possible scholarly and public access to the scholarship and creative works produced by the University community. In 2019, the Senate of York University approved an Open Access Policy, reinforcing York’s commitment to the democratization of knowledge by making its research widely accessible to citizenry and the global community.
Accessibility Features
The web version of this module has been designed with accessibility in mind by following the guidelines detailed in this Accessibility Checklist. It incorporates the following features:
- It has been optimized for people who use screen-reader technology.
- all content can be navigated using a keyboard
- links, headings, and tables use proper markup
- all images and figures have text descriptions
- Simple equations use symbols that will be correctly interpreted by screen readers (for example, minus signs and not hyphens).
- Complex equations are written in MathML or written in such a way they can be translated into MathML (for example, written in LaTeX and rendered with MathJax).
- Information is not conveyed by colour alone.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. This website follows accessibility guidelines for WCAG 2.0, Level AA.
