Planning for Impact

The process of creating a podcast series design (from yesterday) was to identify your form and function (WHAT). Today we’ll look to the process of creating a podcast series plan (HOW)!

Your ideation plan captured the form and function of your podcast series. A few more questions to consider as you refine your idea, in to a formal design for the series;

  • When will each of the series episode be shared? Will students need them to prepare for testing? Or will they be needed closer to the end of the course for the final course review?
  • Will your Teachable “moments” be of value, as high level set of summary statements for course content, over multiple years? Developing and delivering a more polished (high tech) series of episodes is in your future.
  • And ask yourself: Is it only students in your course who need to follow the series? Would your department be interested in following along? Might you want people from outside of the institution to follow along/access your episodes/recordings?

These are key questions to consider because they will ultimately need to be answered when you are ready to share your episodes/series with your audience.

Resources to help you

In todays ZOOM session we’ll look at HOW to create a series plan, and get it off the ground! Linked below are resources we will utilize today, and that you can also use to create a plan to bring your Ideation ‘to life’!

List of…

  1. Todays session Powerpoint (as printable PDF)
  2. The planning template: Teachable Moments Planning Template.pdf
  3. Pro Tips for planning your series
  4. An example of a planning form completed for the TT of the Holidays series… for medium tech;-)

First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.

Once you have completed a first draft of your series plan (using the template provided) we’d love for you to share it. We can provide feedback or advice (if you also post questions with your draft)..
