School, Department, and Program Policies
When students are on campus attending program specific lab courses, they are required to be in full uniform. The pharmacy technician uniform consists of a navy blue scrub shirt with the program crest affixed to the left arm (may be substituted with a pharmacy technician program specific t-shirt for certain labs), navy blue scrub pants, a white lab coat and closed toe shoes. All components of the lab uniform may be purchased through the college bookstore.
In addition to the program uniform, the program adheres to the college’s “We Share the Air” policy. Some people at the College become physically ill when exposed to scented products. They can experience asthma attacks, difficulties in breathing, nausea, dizziness, severe headaches and or other health symptoms. That is why the College asks that you to not wear scented personal care products like perfumes, colognes, deodorants, lotions, soaps and or hair products when you arrive on campus. Self-care products mentioned above are just a few that may have an adverse affect on your fellow students, therefore when possible, choose unscented options to be considerate of others. Want to know more? Read our Guidelines towards a Scent-Reduced Environment.
Students are required to obtain a locker as personal belongings, such as backpacks, jackets, purses, cell phones and food and drink are not permitted in the pharmacy labs. You may visit myCentennial to rent a locker for the academic year. MyCentennial is also used for payment of tuitions fees, as well as purchasing a parking pass if you require parking on campus.
As many theory courses remain online, students will need a working computer with a working keyboard, mouse, headphones, webcam and a strong internet connection. It is recommended that students use either Chrome or Fire Fox when using eCentennial and the other EdTech tools found in their courses. Please make sure to update preferred browser and Flash Player browser plugin to the newest version for the best possible experience in the online environment. Tests or assignments conducted remotely may require the use of online proctoring technology where the student’s identification is verified and their activity is monitored and/or recorded, both audibly and visually through remote access to the student’s computer and web camera. In addition to the technology requirements associated with the program courses, students should also possess a set of computer skills that include: installing software, security, and virus protection on their computers, managing files/folders on your computer, using Office applications for word processing and submission of assignments, and accessing and using the internet through the use of a web browser. If students need to refresh their skills in any of these areas, refer to the College Libraries Ontario “The Learning Portal.”
