Book Description

Do you work or study in an environment where you need to produce texts in more than one language? Or do you think that other people might be using automatic translation tools to translate your text into a language that they can understand more easily? Many of the texts that we write could end up being translated, often with the help of a tool such as Google Translate. But these tools are not perfect, so one key way that we can improve the quality of translation is by improving the quality of our original text. Using the “garbage in, garbage out” principle, this ebook emphasizes why it’s important to write with translation in mind, and it explains some of the differences between the way that human translators and automatic translation tools work. Finally, it provides some practical tips about how to write in a translation friendly way, along with some exercises to help you practice. This resource is also available in French: Médiocre à l’entrée = Médiocre à la sortie!
