By the end of this chapter, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a broad, comprehensive understanding of data-driven evidence to inform resource allocation decisions in health care;
  • Critically analyze a case study and synthesize information pertinent to setting priorities in LTC homes during the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • Gain an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of health economic evidence;
  • Identify health economic measures (i.e., costs and outcomes) relevant to resource allocation decisions in health care; and
  • Describe the perspective of economic evaluation and levels of stakeholder engagement in the decision-making process.
