105 Jazmyn’s Test Chapter
Fiske (1987) argues that the pleasures of television texts need to be understood in terms of primary and secondary relations: the pleasures of viewing the primary text are extended by a range of secondary texts about the series, its actors/stars, writers, and producers.
This phenomenon can be seen when audience members discuss not only a series itself, but also the talent behind it. (Oh, I’ve seen this actor in this show, Oh, a writer who wrote another show I like worked on this one!)
