As bystanders, we need to be especially vigilant and aware of what disrespect, harassment, and hate violence look like in order to be able to stand up and intervene at a time when people need it most
Today, you will spend your time reviewing key resources about the Five Ds of Bystander Intervention, and develop the foundation for your skills building exercises on Thursday.

Learning Activity: Implicit Bias Test
The Harvard Implicit Association Test is the most widely used and publicly available test for implicit bias. Although it is widely criticized for the way it is scored, and the accuracy of “diagnosis”, many scholars advocate for its use as an educational tool. We urge you to complete the IAT and subsequently use your results as a reflection point on your own views and biases, and how these may impact your interactions with the world around you.
You will need a computing device with a strong internet connection. It may be better completed on a computer with a keyboard, since you will need to have fingers (or thumbs) on two specified letters throughout the various aspects of the test.
The link below will bring you to a page of preliminary information to read through. Click “I wish to proceed” at the bottom of the page. You will then be presented with a variety of types of tests you can complete. Choose the “Race IAT” roughly halfway down the page.
