Help for Adapting, Adopting and Creating OER at Western

If you are a Western faculty or staff member interested in more information about adopting, adapting and creating OER, you have a number of resources available to you.

ITRC

The Instructional Technology Resource Centre (ITRC) is available to work with instructors who wish to create and/or adapt OER for use in Western courses.  The centre offers services such as module design, video and audio production, graphic design,  and web development. To submit a project proposal please visit the ITRC Project Request form.

CTL

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports Western University instructors in creating high quality student-centred learning experiences through orientation, training, mentorship, research, and innovation opportunities. As part of the CTL, the eLearning team creates evidence-based programs and scholarly resources to ensure instructors are supported in building deep, meaningful and engaging OER resources.

Western Libraries

The Western Libraries offer a number of services that are helpful to instructors looking to adopt/adapt/create OER.  From copyright assistance and and information about open access to support for the Course Readings service and library-focused teaching support, the libraries are available to help instructors at any stage of their OER projects.

eCampus Ontario Curator

For instructors interested in learning more about learning material curation, eCampusOntario, as part of its Extend modules, provides Curator: Curation for Learning.  This module helps instructors explore ways to curate from the learners’ perspective to create engaging, interactive, and open course materials .
