This module highlights key human rights, accessibility, and privacy and confidentiality legislation that informs Conestoga’s policies and procedures. It also overviews the typical semester structure, the course delivery modes, and the importance of taking attendance for maximizing student engagement.
This module will help you to become more familiar with how courses are delivered and how to address situations that may arise in your classroom. You will also be able to locate key documents that inform how you teach and assess students.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Identify relevant human rights and accessibility law, policies, and guidelines
- Identify privacy, confidentiality, and safety expectations and how to report incidents
- Describe teaching expectations and processes to support students with documented disabilities and others, seeking code-related support
- Describe the role of the professor
- Identify key policies and procedures for course delivery
- Identify the semester structure and modes of delivery
- Describe ways to promote attendance and support student engagement in the classroom
