Open Assessment Tools

Below is a collection of assessment systems that are available to pair with open books.

  • WeBWork: is primarily a math assessment tool (online homework or tests with automatic grading)
  • iMathAs: online homework system. It possesses capabilities similar to a learning management system (LMS).
  • Numbas: an online assessment authoring tool. The content created in this platform should be exported to and delivered via a virtual learning environment.
  • Prairie Learn is an online system for creating homework and tests. It allows questions to be written using HTML/JavaScript, and allows randomization and autograding. Supports graphical drawing, symbolic algebra, and student code compilation and execution.
  • ADAPT Open Homework System (Libretexts) offers engaging and adaptive assessments from a shared question bank, including over +200,000 elements. Build formative and summative assessments using WebWork, iMathAs, MyOpen Math, H5P, or Native QTI. You can create accessible alternatives to questions and assessments.
  • SageMath is a free open-source mathematics software system. It builds upon many existing open-source packages, including NumPy, SciPy, matplotlib, Sympy, Maxima, GAP, FLINT, and R, among others. Access through a common, Python-based language or directly via interfaces or wrappers.
  • Carnap is a free and open software framework written in Haskell for teaching and studying formal logic.
