Create Your Own Video Content
You can create video content for your OER. The following guidance is for those creating videos at home.
Setting up Your Home Video Equipment
First, decide if you will record your interview on a computer or a mobile phone. Find a well-lit and quiet place to record.
MacOS
- Launch QuickTime Player. Under File, select New Movie Recording.
- A movie recording window with a feed from the built-in camera and microphone will launch.
- Click the down arrow beside the record button to configure your Camera & Microphone & Ensure the Quality is set to High.
- Save your recording upon completion.
Windows
- Launch the Camera App from the Start Menu.
- A movie recording window with a feed from your Webcam will launch
- Save Your recording upon Completion.
Smartphone
- Launch the Camera app on your mobile device.
- Stand your camera on its side so it is in landscape orientation.
Upload Video
- When finished, upload your video to the folder provided.
Tips
- Be aware of background noise and choose a quiet location.
- Shoot in a well-lit location and avoid standing in front of a window.
- Check your background for anything unwanted in the frame.
- When using a webcam, mount it at eye-level.
- Ensure you center yourself in the frame.
- Speak loud and clear.
