Adopt
If you have found an OER after going through the environmental scan process then you can adopt it for your course. It is important to record your adoption in the Course Outline Mapping and Management System (COMMS). It is also important to communicate your adoption with the Studio. Follow the adoption steps below.
- Fill out the OER Adoption Form
- Complete COMMS: add the adopted OER to the required resource for your course. Please make sure you reference the OER in either the ISBN or Title area. See the examples below in the shaded box:

Fanshawe’s OERs do not usually have ISBNs associated with them. A SKU number may be assigned if there is a print version available in the bookstore.
- If you would like to request a printed copy of your OER to be available to students, please contact the bookstore. They can provide binder-ready printed copies in black and white.
- Provide the URL link of the book to your students in FOL. You can also link to the chapters in the modules.
