Conclusion

The fields of scholarship described above, although not exhaustive, serve to indicate the extent to which digital technology has been adopted in a variety of humanities disciplines.  It also demonstrates that the digital humanities are influencing the development of new fields, in which established digital humanities tools and techniques are being adapted for new applications and solve new problems.  Consequently, although fields traditionally within the realm of the humanities, such as history, the classics, and archaeology, are becoming increasingly “digital”, completely new areas, such as new Media studies, museum studies, software studies, and cultural analytics, are emerging in a synergistic and symbiotic relationship to the digital humanities.
