Political imagination is another one of the mandatory POST classes to take. The first half of political imagination discussed older political theories, which could be labelled the classic political theories, ie. old white dudes whose names get thrown around a lot. The theme for this course was utopias. Within each of the readings we discussed the questions; what does this demonstrate about the world they were writing in and, what does it show they want/believe about the future. This was an interesting approach to reading these classic theories. Utopic writing always says something about the world you are living in, and the issues that you see with it. Additionally, these dreams for the future show what the writer wants changed within their current world.
