As I wrap up the fall semester and look ahead to the winter semester, I feel a sense of growth and anticipation. My journey as an RPN has been invaluable in shaping my nursing practice, and I am excited to transition into my RN role. This semester has allowed me to build upon the skills that I built through my foundational experience as an RPN such as patient center care, medication management, and multitasking. Through seminars and lectures, I hope to handle more complicated clinical situations and improve my critical thinking and decision-making.
As I reflect on my beliefs and values, I see how they play a key role in my practice. Accountability, competence, commitment, and respect are values that guide me in every aspect of patient care.
I am also looking forward to my first clinical placement. This excitement is accompanied by a bit of nervousness; however, I am confident that the knowledge and skills that I have gained so far will help me transition smoothly. I am eager to see how the theoretical knowledge from my coursework will apply in the real-world setting, especially in high-pressure environments like the ICU, where I hope to work in the future.
This semester I built artefacts, reflections, and smart goals that will serve as valuable resources as I continue my learning journey. I am excited to take all the experiences into the next semester, knowing that each step brings me closer to becoming a more skilled and compassionate nurse.
