Course Outlines and Course Plans
Fanshawe uses a system called the Course Outline Mapping and Management System (COMMS) to manage our course outlines and course plans. These are the two official documents provided to students with information about the outcomes and activities for the course:
- Course Outline
- Course Plan
Course Outline
- The Course Outline identifies the primary learning outcomes for the course, the grading breakdown, required resources, and other official policies. This document is the same for all course sections and will be provided to you.
- The information set out in this document must be strictly followed to ensure students meet the course requirements.
- The Course Outline is submitted each academic year by the Course Lead. A copy will be provided to you in your FOL site.
- You can see a sample Course Outline for MGMT-7039 [PDF].
Course Plan
- The course plan provides a general overview of the course flow and identifies the weeks of major assignments. This document is also the same for all sections and is also provided to you and visible on your FOL course site.
- You should try to follow this document; however, some changes may be necessary depending on your class schedule, for example, if you miss a class on a holiday Monday. They are written as general guidelines to accommodate these situations.
- The Course Plan is uploaded prior to each term a course is offered by the Course Lead. A copy will be provided to you on your FOL site.
- You can see a sample Course Plan for MGMT-7039 [PDF].
