Conclusion
An understanding of the 5Rs, and how they are reflected in Indigenous communication norms serves to heighten our understanding of Indigenous values, further opening opportunities to build trusting relationships with our Indigenous colleagues. By connecting the 5 Rs with our preferred communication styles we are able to better analyse our own communication preferences in the workplace and how this may affect our Indigenous colleagues. By becoming aware of the impact and application of our communication preferences and approaches, we are able to begin to make our workplaces more inclusive and safer environments for all employees.
