Procedure for Rotation Schedules

Student rotations at each placement location are always different and are at the discretion of the on-site Placement Supervisor.  The objective of HESM winter field placement is to job shadow Healthcare Environmental Services department’s leadership team.

We ask that the placement sites determine a three days per week placement schedule rotation for students to explore different sectors and roles and responsibilities to operate the EVS department.

Some sample rotations are included in the manual for information only. Exposure to all related department areas at the facility as part of the rotation is encouraged. We anticipate that students will advance from observation through various levels of participation and eventually be able to perform some staff relief at a supervisory level, as appropriate.

Please review the Healthcare Environmental Services Management Placement the following sample rotation for suggestions through job shadowing/observing Healthcare Environmental Departments Team leads/Supervisors/Managers and eventually be able to perform some staff relief at a supervisory level.

Projects/assignments may be assigned from the suggested list or as assigned by the placement supervisors. We ask that a minimum of three assignments/activities/projects are assigned to students as per assignment #2 for HESM 206 Field Placement 2.

As placement supervisors, you may ask students to submit their reports/assignments to you in addition to the submission of assigned course work form the Faculty Advisor.
