Objectives of Field Placement and Rotation Schedules

On completion of Job Shadowing Field Placement, the student will have demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Define the different positions within the healthcare environmental services department.
  2. Identify the content learned in the first semester curriculum of the Healthcare Environmental Services Management program.
  3. Determine appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills within the Interprofessional team, the clients, colleagues, co-workers, department managers and employers.

The Fall placement will be two times per week, scheduled Thursdays and Fridays for a total of 14 days and times according to the shifts they are job shadowing.

Student rotations at each placement location are always different and are at the discretion of the on-site Placement Supervisor.   Sample rotations are included in the manual for information only.

Please review the (HESM) Placement sample rotation for suggestions on job shadowing/observation placement and to help students achieve HESM 106 Fall Field Placement Learning Outcomes and to help scaffold learning to HESM 206 Winter Field Placement that focuses on job shadowing the Environmental Services Management team.

Student Placement assignments are listed below for students to accomplish in addition to job shadowing.

You may also assign students assignments to help attain the learning outcomes and/or support you and your department.
