Versioning History

This page provides a record of edits and changes made to this book since its initial publication in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection. Whenever edits or updates are made, we make the required changes in the text and provide a record and description of those changes here. If the change is minor, the version number increases by 0.1. However, if the edits involve substantial updates, the version number goes up to the next full number. The files on our website always reflect the most recent version, including the print-on-demand copy.

If you find an error in this book, please fill out the Report an Open Textbook Error form. Once changed have been approved and made, we will record details about the change here.

1.1 August 21, 2015 Book added to the BC Open Textbook Collection.
1.2 October 14, 2016 Replaced an incorrect term. Section 6.3: In Table 6.3, the term alluvial was replaced with colluvial.
1.3 October 18, 2016 Fixed a table that had gotten mixed up. Section 6.1: In Table 6.2, some words that were meant to be included in the table were appearing above the table. The table was edited so that all the information is in the correct cells.
1.4 March 21, 2017 Added a missing answer to an exercise question. Appendix 3 Answers to Exercises: The answers to Exercise 3.7 were mislabeled as 3.6 so this was changed. Also added the answers to Exercise 3.6 which had been missing.
1.5 August 14, 2017 Incorrectly labeled image replaced Appendix 3 Answers to Exercises: The image showing the answers to Exercise 7.4 was replaced. The new image has switched the locations of the Biotite and Chlorite lables.
1.6 February 27, 2018 Added sentence pointing to more information. Section 1.5, paragraph two: Added the following sentence and link: “(For a more accurate depiction of the components of the Earth’s interior, please see Figure 9.2.)”
1.7 October 9, 2018 Corrected an informational error and updated a link. Section 13.1, paragraph two: Corrected the sentence from “Two-thirds of our fresh water is stored in the ground and one-third is stored in ice.” to “Two-thirds of our fresh water is stored in ice and one-third is stored in the ground.”
