Futures Introduction

As students working for the Office of Open Learning, we were asked to try and identify what the future might look like for our fellow peers. Each of us was asked to describe what classes might look like, what a day in the life might look like, and what some advertisements/propaganda would look like from these futures.

One of the ways that we came up with these Futures was we went and looked at the current trends, specifically the SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) trends. This allowed us to get a sense of how we would progress from the current moment to those futures and provided us with a deeper understanding of how our current world works as well as the kinds of changes we are seeing in society.

Through three different lenses, we came up with a plethora of different future scenarios and tried thinking of what skills and know-how would be needed for each of them. We thought the best way to document our findings would be to put them in this ebook!
