Nadzeya Rahavaya

Turning Academic Work into Marketable Experience Using AI

Generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, MS Copilot, Claude, etc., can help students extract and frame their classroom experiences in professional language.

It is important to recognize that the experience is authentic, with generative AI tools serving to enhance efficiency in today’s fast-paced environment. Students are encouraged to critically review, evaluate, and revise all AI-generated content to ensure accuracy and relevance.

How to succeed in job search using Gen AI:

  1. Identify whether a project or assignment is a good fit for the position

Based on the job description, evaluate the relevance of an academic experience using guided AI prompts.

  1. Describe the project/assignment/roles/responsibilities in industry terms

Use AI to rephrase project details in a tone appropriate for resumes, cover letters, and interviews.

  1. Identify employability skills

Using guided AI prompts, extract skills like teamwork, data analysis, campaign planning, and client communication.

  1. Generate resume bullet points

Based on your work using prompts such as “Turn this marketing project into a professional resume bullet.”, build compelling bullet points for description of job responsibilities.

  1. Practice storytelling for interviews

Use AI-generated mock interview questions to prepare for behavioral interviews and craft STAR* (Situation, Task, Action, Result) responses.
