Module 3 Practice, review the dossier

Review the dashboard. Here you have some facts, make sure you review the dossier, the dashboard and the stakeholder register.

The Software Solution and Service Division: They have an average $300,00 in revenue per employee per year.

Executive Leadership Skills: They are generating less than $50,000 in revenue per employee per year.

Timeline: The timeline needs to be accelerated.

Module 3 Practice, total

Approximately 40 individuals in the Leadership Skills workforce have a strong potential to be retrained to deliver distance or Web-based training. There are some that have a strong proven track record to be repurposed as customer liaison and support professionals. In particular there are 15 certified PMPs on staff in the Leadership Skills team that would be a very welcome addition to the team to help them increase efficiency in the customer requirements-gathering and project rollout processes.

Module 3 Practice, frank message

Message from Frank: Sorry I flew of the handle earlier. You were right to refuse that request, I get emotional about my team. I heard what you did for my team, half will get retraining and get to stay at SMC. I get the logic behind that and I’ve spoken toAnan to thank her personally. I know change isn’t easy, especially for an old dog like me. Maybe I can learn new tricks.

Thanks

Frank

Module 3 (Practice), Transition from Module 2 to Module 3

You’ve made it. You’ve spoken to the stakeholders. You’ve navigated some tricky issues. You are now ready to write a very preliminary, short memo of about 4-5 paragraphs that will include some key thoughts about how best to structure the project including some of the major tasks and a completed stakeholder register identifying the stakeholders, their stakes in the project and communication preferences.

Module 3 (Practice), Aiza to Student

Again, it is understood that these documents should be brief and reflect only some of the key findings/requirements you have collected during your discussions with the key players.

Check back to the dossier and the messages you’ve collected along the way if you are stuck. You should now have all the information about the planned restructuring and have spoken to all of the key people. Remember to double check that you haven’t missed anything.

Module 3 (Practice), Aiza to Student

This was a tough challenge. Change can be a very emotional thing for an organizations and people will be losing their jobs if anyone can clarify this project and identify how SMC might precede, it is you.

Once you are complete, send the material my way. Thanks again for your hard work.

Module 3 (Practice), Module 1

According to Anan, approximately 40 individuals in the Leadership Skills workforce have a strong potential to be retrained to deliver distance or Web-based training. There are some that have a strong proven track record to be repurposed as customer liaison and support professional. In particular there are 15 certified PMPs on staff in the Leadership Skills team that would be a very welcome addition to our team to help us increase efficiency in our customer requirements-gathering and project rollout processes.

There is a low per-capita profitability in the Executive Leadership Skills training group. They are generating less than $50,000 in revenue per employee per year. The Software Solution and Service Division, has an average of $300,000 in revenue per employee in that division.

The timeline for this project will need to be accelerated as there are some rumors’ circulating  already.

Attached is a stakeholder register.

Module 3 (Practice), Module 2

Things look to be in quite a mess. There will definitely need to be a layoff but I think we can take our time on this. I think the Executive Leadership team needs to be cut and it is clear they aren’t making any money.

We are looking at a roll out of several months.

Here’s the form

Module 3 (Practice), Successful Message to Student from Aiza

I’ve spoken to Patrick and he is really pleased with your fact-finding memo. I’ve reviewed your stakeholder register and it is spot-on. I think you’ve done terrific work in a very tense and difficult situation.

The stakeholder register does a good job pinpointing the communication preferences of the key stakeholders on this project. As you know, this will be an invaluable tool as we rollout the project, making sure we keep all the players in the loop. The critical path does a great job  integrating some of the key facts you’ve learned in successfully gathering information about the project from the management team. You used the dossier and the dashboard to your advantage.

You’ve managed to navigate one of the toughest kinds of projects project managers will work on. People are very emotional during these restructurings and business transitions. This can be a project manager. You’ve done a great job avoiding some of the pitfalls and issues that can  befall a project manager.

Well done!

Module 3 (Practice), Unsuccessful (Message from Aiza to Student)- Project Closeout

You’ve done a really solid job so far under really tough circumstances. I recognize that this was a really tricky project. There are one or two aspects in support of the requirements of the stakeholder register, communication plan and critical path. Remember our job is to compile some key  thoughts about how best to structure the project with some of the major tasks and critical path items. We also need your observations on the stakeholders and their communication preferences. It is understood that these documents should be brief and reflect only some of the key findings/requirements you have collected during your discussions with the key players.

Remember to detail the facts you have gathered, weaving in content from the dossier <link to dossier> and dashboard <link to dashboard> that has given us some of key details about the restructuring. Did you include all of the information that you learned during your encounters?

try again to fill in some of the gaps and resubmit. You are close!
