Manifesting As A Changemaker Model
We welcome you to explore the Manifesting as a Changemaker Model (pictured below).
This model, inspired through connections with amazing participants in our College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF) research project (this includes members of our Changemaker Research Circle, participants in Focus Groups, contributors in our community and faculty feedback sessions, and faculty friends of our project – you know who you are), is meant to bring to life the shifting and interconnected weavings of practicing changemaking.
Changemakers prioritize “doing” empathy, teamwork, leadership, and changemaking. The Manifesting As A Changemaker Model helps illuminate the cyclical tendency of human nature to approach each skill and mindset with varying entry points depending on the situational context.
Note: The brilliant graphic rendering of our model was by the wonderfully talented Adam Dagenais. Edits were completed by equally gifted Chris Robert Michael and Karina Mejia. Thank you all!
Some of the key aspirations for the model include the following:
- It conveys movement;
- It embodies fluidity;
- It shows how Thinking, Feeling, and Doing are cyclical entry points into empathy, teamwork, and leadership;
- It reflects how Doing each of these skills/mindsets links to Practicing Changemaking ;
- It portrays the interconnected and interwoven nature of changemaking skills;
- It brings to life the idea that practicing changemaking is Manifesting As A Changemaker.
We welcome your thoughts on the model and invite you to use it in whatever ways help you help changemakers flourish.

Remember… As we grow, we are able to “do.” When we “do,” we practice changemaking.
It is in the beautiful act of practicing changemaking that we may “Manifest as a Changemaker.”
Changemaker Pathways at Georgian College
The Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation at Georgian College has made it seamless for future changemakers to navigate their changemaker pathway. By recognizing the nuanced ways changemaking can both be nurtured and manifest, 10 changemaker pathways are presented to learners and educators alike including:
- Empathizer: I want to connect with people, so I can really understand what they are facing.
- Volunteer: I want to volunteer my time to help others.
- Champion: I see a better way to collaborate and use my voice to bring diverse agendas to the conversation.
- Activist: I want to campaign to bring about political or social change.
- Intrapreneur: I want to take responsibility for making change in whatever community or organization I am a part of.
- Social Entrepreneur: I want to use business to affect positive social change.
- Social Innovator: I want to create new strategies, products or ideas to address social issues.
- Funder/Investor: I want to raise, donate or contribute financially to social impact.
- Researcher: I want to use data to tell fact-based stories to support change.
- Policy Maker: I want to work with multiple groups of people to design, develop, and model new policies that promote social change.
