Youth Research Lab
Youth Research Lab is a youth-oriented research hub committed to participatory research methods with youth experiencing higher levels of marginalization within their schools. Since 2017, Youth Research Lab has supported youth engage in collaborative and self-reflective approaches to research with the ultimate goal of bringing positive change to their school communities and beyond. Some of the youth-led research projects include Assumptions of Excellence: Staff’s Perceptions of the Ideal UTS Student, Assumptions of Excellence: Effects on UTS Students, and Increasing Socioeconomic Diversity among UTS Students. The Youth Research Lab also publishes an online journal, In: Cite Youth Research Journal, and the whyPAR Podcast. Check out the Youth Research Lab to learn more.
Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement Project
Carleton University’s Geri Briggs and Peter Andrée began the Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement Project (CFICE) with the goal of answering the question “How can community campus partnerships be designed and implemented to maximize the value created for non-profit, community-based organizations?” From 2012-2015, the CFICE focused on poverty reduction, violence against women, community food security, and community environmental sustainability by creating hubs for each respective area. United Nations Academic Hub
The University of Manitoba is a designated United Nations Academic Hub (UNAI) for SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitization. The University of Manitoba has invested resources in research areas related to SDG 6 such as interdisciplinary research on water systems that build sustainable, resilient communities, projects on clean water and sanitation security, and continued monitoring of water consumption on campus. In addition to these projects, the University of Manitoba has an SDG 6 working group made up of faculty and graduate students undertaking research projects related to clean water and sanitation goals.
